pirate kake pipe tobacco

I LOVE THIS BLEND! It is more expensive, by about $15-20 a pound, but worth it. This is exactly what I look for in a latakia blend. Highly recommended for Lat-Heads. I disagree with a lot of the reviewers that claim that this blend lacks complexity. This is a sit down and do nothing else but smoke tobacco. This one is just not for me. Cornell & Diehl Bayou Morning Flake Pipe Tobacco - TobaccoPipes.com Oh man what a blend. Black mostly in color with some remnants of what brown tobacco was there. Is almost pure latakia! The taste of salted leather. It seemed to have dried out some, so I have tried rehydrating it. A little air time helps but on a good dry day you can get by without it. Every so often I grab a piece to refill my small jelly jar which I pinch it from when I smoke it. Yowza!!! I always welcome this unique cake cut from C&D. In the smoke the Latakia - even though being 75% percent of the blend - really smooth and silky. Pirate Kake is a study in excess, and that is not a bad thing. The smell in your tin is strongly smoky, as you would expect. Comparable to an Is lay Whiskey in smokiness, though if one is looking for notes of peat I recommend C&D's 'Strathspey'. Today I must up the ante yet again as I have reloaded my supply and am adding it to long term inventory plans. This is a superb blend of all those who experienced latakian mixtures. So I went ahead and ordered it. I've decided I would rather put my money towards PK. I rediscovered this blend over the weekend. I smoke only virginias and perique blends. This thing here -this Pirate Kake- has indeed hit the spot. While it lacks the subtle complexity of Esoterica's "Penzance," PK delivers a lovely, creamy, cool smoke that leaves amazing flavors on the palate. I get more flavor, sweetness and nuance from this blend then I do from other lat bomb balkans. If 75% Latakia doesnt make for a Lat-Bomb, then I dont know what would (100% Latakia perhaps)? I recommend this blend without any reservation. Caution: it is such an unforgettable smoke, your pipe will keep reminding you of it no matter what else you smoke in it. I just pull it apart, load and light. This tobacco is one of my favourites. And the latakia is strong, but it is not at all overpowering. PK made the top 5 list. Warning this has been described to me as smelling like "cats that being lit on fire". IMHO it is more like a blending tobacco. Might not have the best flavour in the world by itself, but it is a very cool burning leaf. The closest an honest gentleman can get to smoking straight Latakia. Burns very cool & doesn't require many, if any, relights. C&D's #099, Engine 99. Cornell & Diehl Pipe Tobaccos include hundreds of blends made in the US with top-quality leaf from all over the world. I started smoking pipes a couple years ago with those pouches you could get out of stores and nothing against those tobacco are the people that smoke them just thought something was missing I finally found this smoking pipes.com website ordered a tin of nightcap and that was my 1st real true experience with great tinned tobacco and that was my 1st while moment smoking a pipe while now you can't get nightcap anymore and I was looking for that wow again and just happened to pick up a can of pirate cake and this is as close a second to the while that I 1st experienced the nightcap not saying the tobaccos are similar just saying that while factor has to be the 2nd best tobacco that I've ever tried and will order more and more this is just a great smoke everything you could want every feeling every emotion just a great all around smoking tobacco. The wine helped me get through the bowl. You can almost hear your girl complaining about this one already. The primary notable tin note and flavors are or course, Latakia! Delicious flavors mend together and form a smooth, rich English blended by the tobacco gods themselves. A real treasure, imho, and a must-try for those who appreciate latakia-heavy blends. And so I will begin with the tin note. I'll be honest, its re ally not for me. Pirate kake is quite a bit sharper and overwhelming if you smoke it too fast. Couldn't smoke it all day or even on a dialy basis but certainly go for the occasional or more than ocassional latakia blast that one is looking for. This will be one of my regular smokes. The smoke is smooth and Creamy with a little roughness now and then. So, for me, this blend is rich, smokey, and spicy with the great flavors from the Turkish that mix very well with the Latakia. Being a Pirate Kake fan I'm starting to love some of the Captain Earle's offerings more and more. I will keep the 2 lbs. YA GOTTA TRY THIS. A must for any latakia fan, especially at the great price it is sold in bulk (and the cake form allows you to cellar it without perceivable deterioration). The burn's consistent and incredibly even, giving off a smoke that's reminiscent of Sam G Balkan Flake: cool Latakia. I can hardly wait to see how this tastes a couple of years down the road. The cake is loose and breaks into a ribbon cut easy for packing. Initially very smoky, somewhat sweet, very smooth, but ultimately uninteresting. The dominant terpene in this strain is pinene. I had smoked samples from friends and a small tin of this in the past but waited to review until I could get a pound to start on just to see consistency from tin to bulk. So many of me maties have given a good review - I'll squander no more of yer time. The mixture is creamy, dry, woodsy and with a lot of peat accents. I suppose it depends on your mood when smoking it. I enjoy a good Balkan or English blend, but not this much Latakia. This is my new all day smoke . Too much latakia and not enough flavor for my tastes. This is definitely a blend for the Latikia follower, or one looking to escape reality for an hour or so. Very smooth with little, if any bite. Sometimes, I like that, though I smoke Virginias most often. Now I know, and don't like it. HO-LEEE SMOKES, BATMAN!!! The burly and Orientals are there to round it out a bit but the star is the smoky lat. The 099 bag was packed totally full of tobacco, whereas the Pirate Kake was only half full! Other than many expect, Latakia is a very low in nicotine and tongue friendly tobacco which is very strong in taste, though. If you want to try something interesting (and I'm sure that you do) then mix this about half and half with Captain Black White. . The burley is noticeable and really brings it all together. I find PK to be a charmingly enjoyable blend, smooth as butter, rich with wood, earth and leather, along with some sweet coupled with sea salt (and a mineral-like element that I cant quite put my finger on its not quite soda-like but it sits right behind the salt). It lights and stays lit easily, smokes dry and clean with no bite nor moisture. Above all, smoke it slow. C&D Pirate Kake was among them. I really enjoy PK. This is the first time I ever smelled a Latakia tin / pouch note. Lighting is relatively easy with maybe two to three additional lights after the charring light. The moisture is perfect, you can put it directly in the bowl or can leave it to dry as long as you wish. It is true to its word, but C&D could tinker the blend and do better. A couple weeks later when I could imagine wanting Latakia again, I put some nice Squadron Leader in the pipe and smoked it down 1/4 way, until the shank cracked 1/2 down from the bowl. I'm stocking these deep. I smoked a one ounce block of Pirate Kake in shot order now, in a variety of pipes. Gli aromi a crudo sono spiccatamente di affumicato e torbato, segno di un ottimo Latakia, ma preponderante, anche spezzando il plug non emergono altri sentori. Mmmm. Taste is med to full and consistent throughout. I feel like I'm the naysayer here, I read sooo many positive things about this blend. This became my favorite pipe tobacco blend halfway through my first bowl. This comes in a Krumble Kake and was fun to break and crumble to prepare for the bowl. This one didn't work for me. Totally my own fault : ). In this sense, it is a deep digging mixture, not heavy, quite campfire smoky, not leathery, without horse-stable notes. Rich, smooth, tasty. My 6 year old piece had a nice oily sheen to the eye and a few spots of plume. Makes a great change of pace for someone looking for something to enjoy while doing something else. Since I've bought it, it did mellow out a little and is now quite a pleasant smoke, but I feel there are a lot of better thought out english/balkan blends to spend my time with. I was not expecting to like this as much as I did. Smoked well with liquor, and savored slowly, it has properties that could easily gain 4 stars. And the smoke has a creamy quality that coats your mouth and nose and everything in a 3 yard radius. The oriental component is actually very noticeable. A little would go a long way. Tobacco is soft and dry. Psstdon't tell anybody ;). Having wanted to go for a really heavy blend I decided I'd give it a try. Its straightforward, in-your-face, smoky and leathery, latakia and turkish. The overall effect is very good, similar to and in my opinion better than Mississippi River. Sku: 011-617-0185 A smooth, robust blend with LOTS (75%!) I can't detect other content in it, than latakia and some latakia blended with a pinch of latakia. I tried this blend which came recommended by my tobacconist, knowing that Old Ironsides is discontinued, and soon will be impossible to aquire. The latakia is there, right up front, and bold indeed! I agree with many of the previous reviews that have described sensations, taste and flavor to the extent that I myself find. It seems to have a topping but it contributes to the excellent flavor. It certainly doesnt disappoint and is a wonderful smoke. I'll order the third tin soon. in my cellar and check on it every few month for the mellowing I enjoyed on my 2012 earlier order. I could very well see pirates smoking this out of their clay pipes as they flew the Jolly Roger. Loading was easy since this crumbled in to small pieces. Tobacco Grove Pipe and Tobacco Put your big boy pants on for this one. Pirate Kake is much less powerful than I thought that it would be. I've had the privilege of smoking a pretty decent variety of blends for my budget. Not an all day smoke but one that we'll take you to Latakia heaven. Pirate Kake, on the other hand, it pure Cyprian smokiness without the coolness. It's an insult to call it one dimensional like it's some chemical-soaked, aromatic garbage tobacco.
